Hello everybody finally my 2 weeks of confinement is over and today 4th Sept is my first book out day. The past 2 weeks had been a tiring but fun and exciting experience for me. Adapting to a new environment , new place, new culture and rules.
18 Aug was the day of enlistment. My uncle, cousin, grandma and mother accompanied me to Tekong. Upon reaching Tekong we were separated as the recruits need to handle some administration stuffs. While waiting to collect my army stuffs like 11B and ID tag, I saw my friend Sean helping out. After collecting my stuff we had to measure our weight, I was posted to Kilo Company. Later we proceeded to the Auditorium to take our oath and later having our meal with my mum and relatives. At around 1800, we departed from the ferry terminal and waited for further instructions. We later marched to our company and regretted bringing so many barangs barangs. We reached a training shed, where we were told to find our duffel bag and field pack, next stripping infront of other strangers to test the clothes, the feeling was so awkward. Later all of us were seated to be divided to other companies and platons. I was posted to Kilo Company Platoon 4 Section 3. Nabe 5th floor. I was carrying the field pack, duffel, my waist pouch and civilian bag the load is killing me. That night I couldn't sleep tossed and turned on the bed the whole night.
The following few days, we learnt marches, army songs, how to greet and salute superiors. 5am we got to wake up and by 530am morning exercises, breakfast, training/ talks/ lessons, lunch, lessons ,dinner and 2230 lights out this meant everyone must be asleep.
Training - tough but fun especially the funny punishments which made half of our platoon laughing.
Discipline - adhere to all rules , obey superiors. So far we did not caused much discipline problem yet
WATER PARADES - I hate water parade, meaning you have to drink half a bottle of water around 500ml. A day there would be around 8 water parades from morning till nights you would be visiting the toilets very often. Water parades are held to prevent heat stroke.
Meals - Like Timothy told me, you would be sick of eating chicken for 3 weeks. Lunch or dinner would be mixed vegetables rice. Breakfast have more varieties like, char kway teow, pau, hor fun, bee hun, and bread with hot drinks.
Admin time - This time is for us to do anything like go jog, play soccer, bathe, wash clothes, talk on phone...
During the 2weeks confinement, I met people from different schools, got to make new friends and train hard to lose weight and pass all the various tests. I was alittle disappointed as most of my friends are in Gryphon company. Have to book in this Sunday at 1930. Would be posting some of the pictures taken during parents visiting day.
